Five years from now you can be right where you are now or you can choose to be in a brand new place. The difference between now and then is action and inspiration. You have to ACT on what inspires you if you plan to make significant changes in your life style, body, mind, money, or love. Examine your life, all aspects. Are you as healthy as you could be? Is your mind and soul fed with the good word? Are you excelling in your career because you have continually met challenges and made personal improvements in yourself? Are you living in perfect or near perfect love? All of these questions have answers. Take the test. If your answers are no... Well heck, no better time than this moment to get out a pad of paper and start writing and compiling goals and a to do list.
The key is now. Fall is normally a time for harvest, but don’t wait, plant those new seeds now! Gather your great ideas and punch your time clock. Work on yourself. If you do it everyday, your progress will be like compound interest. If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish any and all things important to this one precious life.
The people in this column have overcome life obstacles and mental and/or physical challenges. I give them special thanks for sharing! Thanks to all of you!!!
Sixteen months ago I began a life changing transformation. I made a decision to leave my bad habits behind and pursue a healthier life, the life I was meant to live.
The first step was to go to drug rehab to rid myself of a 5 year Oxycodone addiction. It began with back problems, exacerbated by my weight which loomed large at 280 lbs... (and even more at one point). When I returned from rehab I began an exercise program to help me deal with everyday temptations and to get rid of the excess bodyweight.
My first exercise program was ... LOTS of Cardio!!!! I walked either outside, or inside on my "walking machine" aka treadmill 3-4 times a day. I did a little bit of weight training, but followed no steady schedule. I also started educating myself about eating better, learning what I should include with my meals and what I should avoid. Getting the concept of what is a carb was really tricky for me….but I have it now.
A little initial success motivated me to want more. I enlisted the aid of a physician. Under his care, I lost even more weight. My initial goal was to go from my size 46 waist, to a 38. No one was more shocked than me when I bought my first pair of 32s!!!! I had lost 100 lbs! I was thinner and healthier than I had been in years, and people kept asking me if I was sick. I apparently appeared too thin. All that cardio helped me get thin, but now it was time to pack on some muscle.

Now meet Maria Allshouse and her
old "fat" pants!
Maria writes,
"I went to a fit camp over the weekend in Columbus, left the house without my UMP and was freaking out. When I arrived at the gym where the camp was being held, I couldn't believe my eyes. There it was right on the shelf, my favorite protein powder --- Chocolate UMP! So of course I purchased it. When I got back to camp, I offered it to the other campers and well I've got them hooked! It's great stuff and its number one on my list.
Over the past 2.5 years I've used Beverly products (more or fewer as my budget allowed) to help me achieve my workout and physique goals… mostly 7-Keto, Lean Out, UMP and Density. I competed in my first show this past May here in Pittsburgh (OCB Iron City Classic). By the day of the show I had lost a total of 120 lb! Although I was not 100 percent ready, I did the show just to get the experience and loved every minute of it. Cayla Zahoran took this photo of me with my old pants.
Hi Roger. Remember when you told me that I should compete in an all natural show like the NGA? Well, I walked away last night with the 50+ Masters win and an NGA Pro Card from the Alabama show. I can’t thank you enough for your great service, support and encouragement. You delivered! After 10 years in this sport it all came together last night for me.
I did have some help along the way – daily nutrition support from our friend, Jason Theobald of Natty Nutrition (it is not easy getting a 53 year old into the 4% range!) Posing coaching from Old Navy, training hard with Matt Duval, and my wife helping me with a lot of the cooking. And of course, I was taking UMP, Muscle Provider, 7-Keto, Lean Out, Density, Muscle Synergy, and Quadracarn (which really helped vascularity).
Just wanted to shout out thank you and share this pic of me with my NGA Pro Certificate.

The NPC KY State Bodybuilding, Figure and Bikini showdown just took place in Frankfort, KY. I want you to see both the overall Bikini winner, Alicia, and the Lightheavy BB winner, Damon. They both offer their personal experiences and testimonials for BI supplements.
"My name is Alicia Paris.
I’m 33 years old and the proud
mama of a precious 2 yr old
little boy named Jase. I’ve been
an athlete all my life and have
always been fit and pretty
much able to eat whatever I
want. That is... until the birth
of my son. All of a sudden, I had
40lbs to lose! I decided to use
a competition to force me to
get back in shape. So I entered
my first show... the NPC 2009
KY Muscle, stepping on stage
7 months post baby at my prepregnancy
weight and took
2nd place in my class.
I just recently won the 2011 NPC KY State Bikini Championship. So
how did I do it? Obviously lots of hard work in the gym, eating clean
foods, and my new found supplement love, Beverly International! I had
never been a fan of protein shakes because of the textures or taste, but
Beverly UMP changed all that. The vanilla and chocolate UMP is awesome!
Whether you are making shakes, pudding, milk shakes, or goo,
you can’t go wrong. As a pharmaceutical sales rep I spend a lot of time
on the road and in my car, Beverly UMP is a great tasting and fulfilling
meal on the go. Throw it in your shaker or mix in a bowl for some great
tasting pudding. Lean Out is another great supplement that I use to
help me lean out and lose that stubborn body fat without having the
shakes and jitters!! As I have continued with competitions the one thing
I’ve found hard is to lean out without losing muscle size. Mass aminos
now help me retain muscle during that final leaning out phase. Beverly
products are top notch and I would recommend them to any competitor
or anyone looking to improve physical performance, lose weight, or
who is trying to add muscular size. Without the help of Beverly products
I would not have been able to achieve my goals and continue to compete
at the level I am. Thank you Beverly!! You guys Rock! – Alicia Paris,
2011 NPC KY Bikini Champion.
Damon Edmonds: "I was first introduced to BI about ten years ago by a trainer and long time friend, Jeff Schuerman. BI has helped me achieve my desired physique and has surpassed my expectations of any supplement. I continue to use Beverly International because I continue to see results. Period. Over the past 10 years, my physique has transformed into the body I envisioned. There are three little known Beverly stand out products that have helped me reach my goals.
1. Muscularity is a great supplement when I am on a low carb diet. This particular supplement really helps me maintain my muscle mass that would otherwise be depleted from such a diet. By taking 5-8 capsules with each meal, I gain the nutrients needed to maintain my desired appearance.
2. Energy Reserve is my favorite supplement to take first thing in the morning, before I start my cardio on an empty stomach. I can really feel the Energy Reserve light a fire in me and burn up the unwanted fat!
3. Density I like using Density because it has all the essential amino acids. I use it to help keep my muscle size. For competition an even more important benefit from Density is it helps give me that hard, dense look.
Beverly International has really given me the edge to attain the physical goals that I have set for myself. BI is part of my daily workout and pre-contest regimen and I plan to continue to use these products."
Congrats to our KY State
athletes! You look super
great! BTW... the 2012
Northern Kentucky Contest
will be held on March 24th.
AFTER the Arnold Classic
this year. Contest info :

Brian Hart... I am 30
years old, married to the
greatest woman in the
world, and father to the
brightest, most beautiful
daughter a man could ask for. I am also a Combat Veteran of the
United States Army. I have been bodybuilding for over 9 years now,
but only recently competed for the first time. At my first show, the
2011 NPC Northern Kentucky, I placed first in the Men's Open Light
Heavyweight division and won the Overall. This win qualified me
for National Level Competition. I will be competing next at the
2012 Arnold Amateur in Columbus, OH.
UMP gives me the essential protein I need to grow while allowing
me to stay lean in the off season. Protein plays a pivotal
role in bodybuilding and Beverly International has taken the best
protein and combined it with the finest ingredients to make the
best tasting protein supplement on the market. With several different
flavors to choose from, which all taste great, I never get bored
with my protein shakes. The Super Pak provides all the essential
vitamins and minerals I need to maintain a constant high level
of training, which are key to growing and improving in this sport.
Without UMP and Super Pak, I wouldn’t be able to get the necessary
supplements my body needs to produce the show winning
physique that I display when I step on stage.
We will be watching for you at the 2012 Arnold!! Good luck.
She is a hard core Beverly gal and has competed in the NKY Figure contest for the past two years. This is what she has to say about getting prepared and dropping excess water.
"Are you looking for a powerful and natural way to drop water from problem areas pre-contest? Ever heard of Lymphatic Drainage? I am a massage & bodywork therapist who has been using Lymphatic Drainage treatments to help myself and other bodybuilders drop water from problem areas as part of pre-contest prep.
Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is the result of localized SWELLING that occurs from muscle fibers being damaged during intensive workouts. The lymphatic system is responsible for helping the body eliminate swelling. By using Lymphatic Drainage on bodybuilders, I have noticed that the work in precontest mode is highly effective in helping to remove that "watery" look we all strive to drop prior to stage time. The result is a harder looking physique with more definition.
If you’d like to learn more about the lymphatic system or book a session to experience the effects of treatment first hand, please visit my website at www.bodyworxbykarina.com."
I’m 46 years old and I started taking Beverly Supplements about a year ago...
"Hi Sandy! Just to give you a little background, I’m 46 years old and I started taking Beverly Supplements about a year ago; however, I was only using UMP, Lean Out and Muscularity. As you can see from my picture, I have added a lot more supplements since then and I am SO glad that I did!! I have always been one to exercise, but since I started Beverly products, I have never felt better in my life! My appearance and performance has definitely improved; I have the energy to work harder at the gym; I have lean muscle mass; I no longer feel fatigue; I sleep better at night and I even get compliments as to how young I look!
It's hard to say which supplement is my favorite because they all work together so well in giving me what I need. I can say that Chocolate UMP is the best protein I have ever tasted! I love the shakes, the awesome pudding, (I add a little bit of peanut butter) and protein pancakes are my favorite!
My short term goal is to continue training hard and to compete in the 2012 NPC Beverly International Northern Kentucky. Wish me luck! Thanks again Beverly International!!"
UMP Goo for
Powerlifters too!
Roger and I went to the SPF
Powerstation Pro/Am Powerlifting
competition on August 20th. The
meet was promoted and ran by
Mike Ferguson, owner of Powerstation
gym. (Mike supplies the pump
up equipment for our NKY contest...
is one of our dear friends, loyal to
BI and we must note... he just won
his IFBB Pro Card winning the overall
over 60 at Gary Udit’s NPC Master’s
Nationals event).
There were 58 lifters in the amateur class. We sat down and
Todd Jackson pointed out that not only do we see bodybuilders
using UMP Goo, but the powerlifters use it too!!! Well, here is a
picture to prove it!
Here are some Stats on Matt’s final totals. He competed in
the 242 class. Here’s Matt..
I was competing with the Sweatt Shop located in Blue Ash,
owned by Shane Sweatt and pro powerlifter (and strongest
woman in powerlifting) Laura Phelps-Sweatt. We had a group
of 8 competitors: 1 pro, 1 who went pro, 2 (including me) who
got elite status and many who got PRs.
My Numbers:
The Squat: I opened with 715; I got it, then I went to 765 and got that
too; my final attempt was 800 and that was good too.
The Bench: I opened with 500 and it was a good lift; then to 525 also
came up strong and good; my final attempt was 550 but was no good.
The Deadlift: I opened with 575 and it’s a good lift; then to 615 and
good; my final lift of the day was 655 and it flew up to get 3 white lights.
Dawn Hickman has
jumped platforms too!
Just like Matt Haumesser,
another bodybuilder
turned powerlifter,
Dawn Hickman
has jumped platforms
too! She has been
using BI supplements
since 2003. In 2010 she
told her hubby that she
wanted to try powerlifting.
Training and
working hard up to the
meet (2011 APF Senior
Nationals in Wisconsin),
she competed at 99lbs
and went 9 for 9!
Next,
Dawn will be competing in the AWPC Worlds in
Idaho Falls. Her goals are 291lbs in the deads and
squats – tripling her bodyweight. Throughout
these last 8 years, Dawn has relied on her Super
Pak and UMP!!! She says she now mixes UMP
with ice cream! Lucky girl! Look out for Super
Dawn 9 for 9 at 99!!
Can't keep UMP
in stock!
Lorraine Huntley is a registered Dietitian
and Personal Trainer. She buys the heck out of
UMP chocolate. She can’t keep it in stock. Here
she is drinking Creatine Select and Glutamine
Select at her most recent bodybuilding show.
She lives with Crohn’s Disease and copes with
it as a Vegan. It is her way of life and her reason
for feeling good most of the time.
She uses
Beverly products to make sure she keeps that
muscle on her frame. After all, she is a bodybuilder.
