My Complete Transformation - 2003 Overall NPC KY Figure Champion
It all changed last March when one of the gym members who was training for Beverly's Northern Classic, came in the gym to show us her posing suit. I was blown away by the incredible "look" she had achieved. I could tell she was proud of her accomplishment and I was proud for her. No matter how little I ate or how long I ran, my body sure didn't even come close to hers. As I admired her strong, shapely physique, Ramona, one of the trainers at the gym, looked at me and said, "You know you could do that." That's the day my life changed.

Drug Free Pro Bodybuilder - plan to compete, Stay Lean Off Season
One day I was discussing my lack of progress with my friend Dave. He said, "You should try Beverly International. They have the best supplements and information out there." I was skeptical because I had come to the conclusion that all the supplement companies were pretty much the same. Dave had given me one of Beverly's No Nonsense Newsletters and later that day I went on the internet and checked them out. Since I had nothing to lose, I sent them an e-mail with my contest goal and concerns. Roger answered my email the very next day. He told me to stop what I was doing wrong and put me on the right diet right away.

Balancing Life for a Student Bodybuilder
A word on supplements: The people at Beverly were very accommodating in setting up a program that I could follow on an extremely limited budget. For the student this is especially important, as I am paying for my day job rather than being paid. That said, once I started using Beverly I was hooked. No matter what other expenses arose, I found a way to make sure I had my Mass Aminos and Ultra 40 with each meal. As you can see below, with the gracious help of my parents and my brother, I was able to include Muscle Provider, which I love. As the show got closer, I also used Energy Reserve to get at the stubborn fat stores and Muscle Mass BCAA's to help retain the muscle I worked hard to gain. From here on out, these will always be the staples of my supplement program both in and out of contest season.

Dedication, Commitment and Desire --
My Recipe for Success
At my new gym, I made friends with a female bodybuilder and we started training together. My focus changed. I had been training primarily for running and as a triathelete. Now weights became my prime focus. I challenged myself each week to increase the weights I had used the previous workout, and quickly gained strength. The idea of competing in fitness was becoming a realistic possibility. I signed up for some gymnastic classes as the idea grew. Still, I kept coming up with reasons not to compete. Finally, in April of 2002 my friend and gymnastics coach, Gloria DeCoste, entered her first show. This inspired me further. I knew I could probably go on making excuses forever, but it was time that I commit myself to do a show. I chose the NPC Central States five months away. My original intention was to do just one show. I placed a close second at the Central States, and caught "the competition bug"! I entered four more competitions during the next twelve months, 3 national qualifiers and 2 national competitions.
